Wader Partners with PilotAudit: Your Paper Logbook, Professionally Converted

Pilot logbooks and a phone showing the Wader app, with a glowing arrow and text Your History. Digitized. WADER x PilotAudit

Every pilot who moves to a digital logbook hits the same wall: the years already written down on paper.

Ten years of handwriting. Three or four physical books. Coffee stains, a few pages where the ink ran, entries from a flying school that closed in 2013. Nobody wants to spend forty evenings typing that into a phone, so most pilots do one of two things. They start their digital logbook from today and carry the paper forever as a shadow archive, or they type in a rough summary line, promise themselves they will do it properly later, and never do.

Neither is a good place to be when an airline asks to see your records.

We have partnered with PilotAudit to fix this properly. Wader users now have direct access to professional paper-to-digital conversion, along with logbook auditing and interview-ready printing, handled by a team that does this every day.

Who PilotAudit are

PilotAudit is a pilot-owned, family-run business built around a single problem: flight records that are accurate but messy, or messy enough that nobody can tell whether they are accurate.

They do not fly the airplane for you and they do not invent numbers. They take the records you hand them, put them into clean digital form, and tell you where something does not add up. That distinction matters, and we will come back to it.

What is on offer

The partnership gives Wader users access to four services.

  1. Paper-to-digital logbook conversion

The headline service, and the reason we went looking for a partner in the first place.

You send photographs, scans or PDFs of your logbook pages. PilotAudit enter every flight into a clean, structured digital file: dates, aircraft, routes, flight times, landings, approaches and remarks, sorted into the standard time categories including total time, PIC, SIC, cross country, night, instrument and dual received.

Along the way they review the entries for anything obviously missing, unreadable or inconsistent. When a date or a time cannot be read with confidence, they do not guess. They flag it and send it back to you to confirm. The file gets a final formatting and readability check before it lands in your inbox, and it can be formatted for import into digital logbooks.

Pricing runs from $299, banded by how many completed pages you need converted, in tiers from 1 to 50 pages up to 201 to 300 pages. Every band has a priority option that moves you up the queue. Turnaround depends on page count and on how legible your scans are, which is worth keeping in mind when you photograph the pages.

  1. Professional logbook audit

For pilots whose records are already digital but have never been properly checked.

PilotAudit review your totals and your category breakdown, PIC, SIC, cross country, night, instrument, multi-engine, turbine and the rest, and cross-check them against the totals you have been putting on applications. They look for missing or incomplete entries, obvious calculation errors, and inconsistencies in dates, aircraft, routes and remarks. You get back a written audit summary listing the findings and the specific entries worth a second look.

From $199, with standard turnaround of three to five business days, or within 48 hours on rush service.

  1. Professionally printed interview logbook

Plenty of operators still want to see a physical logbook across the table. This service takes your digital export and turns it into a properly formatted, printed and bound logbook, with organised summary pages, tabs or sections where relevant, a final presentation check, and tracked shipping to your door. No hole punching at midnight the day before.

From $179.

  1. Pilot interview logbook prep package

The audit and the printed binder combined, built around a specific interview. The binder is tabbed for the things a recruiter tends to reach for: key training dates, certificate and rating milestones, checkride dates, turbine and multi-engine time, PIC and SIC milestones, total time milestones, and the 1,500 hour ATP point for those on that path.

From $349.

Note that this package leans towards the North American market, and PilotAudit tailor the tabbing to major and regional US carriers including Delta, American, United, Southwest, JetBlue, Alaska, SkyWest, Frontier, FedEx, UPS, NetJets and Flexjet. The audit and the conversion services themselves are not tied to any one regulator, so they work equally well for a license application in Europe, the Middle East, Asia or anywhere else.

Why we did this

Wader exists to be the place a pilot's career lives: the logbook now, recruitment and training management as we build them out. That only works if the record is complete. A logbook that starts in 2019 because that is when you got a smartphone is not a career record, it is a fragment.

There is also a second reason, and it is less about convenience than it is about exposure. Your logbook is a legal document. When you apply for a license, an upgrade or a job, somebody will read it carefully, possibly for the first time in its life. Discrepancies that have been sitting quietly for years surface at exactly the wrong moment: a total that does not reconcile with the sum of its parts, night time logged on a sector that landed at 14:00, a rating date that does not match the certificate.

Most of those errors are innocent arithmetic. All of them are awkward to explain under questioning. Finding them six weeks before an interview is a small administrative task. Finding them during the interview is something else.

We could have built an OCR feature and told you it was solved. Handwriting from a dozen different instructors across two decades is not a problem that a scanner solves cleanly, and a conversion that is 94 percent right is arguably worse than no conversion at all, because you will trust it. This work needs a human who knows what a logbook is supposed to look like.

How it works

  1. Choose the service you need on the PilotAudit site and check out. You do not need your files ready first.

  2. You receive upload instructions. Send clear, well-lit photographs or scans of each page, flat and not cut off, or your existing digital export if you are ordering an audit or printing.

  3. PilotAudit convert and review your records, and come back to you on anything they cannot read with confidence.

  4. Your completed file arrives, along with a note on any entries needing your review.

  5. Import it into Wader and your full history sits alongside everything you have logged since.
