FAA pilot logbook format

Wader exports a pilot logbook in the FAA format for United States, laid out to 14 CFR §61.51. Flights are logged automatically from ADS-B data, then exported to PDF or CSV from the web app and the iOS and Android apps.

Wader produces the FAA layout. Whether a logbook is accepted is a matter for FAA, not for us, so nothing here claims approval or endorsement.

What the file says

Every export prints the regulation it was built to.

The cover page carries a compliance line, so the regulation is on the document itself rather than only on this page. For United States it reads:

Compliant with

14 CFR Part 61 • PILOT LOGBOOK · FAA

What is specific to FAA

  • A different table from the EASA one rather than a relabelled copy. §61.51(b) asks for aircraft category and class, conditions of flight and type of pilot experience, so the sheet spreads across two facing pages.
  • Cross-country, night, actual and simulated instrument, and the landing counts each get their own column, because those are the figures §61.51 requires for currency and for a rating application.
  • The certification line and signature block sit in the remarks column, which is where an examiner expects to find them.
